Gallons = area × coats × waste factor ÷ coverage per gallon, rounded up to whole gallons.
Estimating checks

Is 400 square feet per gallon guaranteed?
No. It is a common planning input, but actual coverage depends on the product and surface.
Should coats include primer?
Only if the entered product and price represent primer. Usually primer should be calculated separately.
Does this calculate selling price?
No. It estimates entered material and labor cost. Add overhead and profit to set the customer price.
